Regeneration boost as Andium brews up more homes

31st July 2017

On Friday 28th July 2017 Andium Homes purchased three prominent sites for redevelopment in the north of St Helier.

The Brewery and Boiler House sites, which sit opposite each other in Ann Street, helps meet the States’ strategic aim of regenerating St Helier. It is an ideal location for affordable housing and adjoins other developments owned by the Company.

Andium Homes will be on site later this year to deliver 15 new homes on the Boiler House site, which already has full planning consent in place, with expected completion at the end of next year.

The Brewery site will deliver over 150 new homes, but will be subject to a full feasibility study. To optimise site potential, the former ‘Belmont Hotel’ on the corner of Simon Place and Ann Street has also been acquired today under a separate purchase agreement. In the interim, whilst the nearby Ann Court development progresses, the site could be used to offset lost shopper parking. An extensive consultation exercise will be undertaken in partnership with local residents, the Parish of St Helier, the Department for Planning and Environment and the Department for Infrastructure, before an application is submitted.

Frank Walker OBE, Chairman of Andium Homes, said, “We have been pursuing these sites for some time and are delighted to have completed the acquisitions. The three sites provide an excellent opportunity to deliver more homes, given their town location and proximity to our other developments. I am delighted that Andium is able to play such a significant role in meeting the commitments made by the Council of Ministers’, and Constable Crowcroft, to regenerating this part of St Helier”.

Deputy Anne Pryke, Minister for Housing, said, “I very much welcome Andium Homes’ plans to develop these sites for affordable housing. One of the States’ strategic aims is to regenerate St Helier so it is extremely positive to see Andium Homes leading the way by delivering new high quality housing in this part of town, which will revitalise the community.
